Why baru cloud?

Your cloud.
With people behind it.

01 /

Technology with a personal contact.

baru cloud is backed by baru com GmbH, an owner-managed IT services company in Berlin. You have a personal point of contact for questions about your cloud project.

02 /

Your data. A clear location.

Our cloud infrastructure is hosted in German data centres. Data processing information is publicly available so you can review the requirements of your project.

03 /

Your project stays yours.

Root SSH for VPS, SFTP for backup and S3-compatible object storage: work with standard interfaces and familiar tools instead of relying on one closed system.

What matters is the fit: location, support, interfaces and the actual services included. Use those criteria to choose your hosting.

The team behind baru cloud
Cloud solutions for everyday work

Fewer workarounds.
More work done.

Bring AI to your team, automate repetitive tasks or find important information again. Start with what you want to achieve, not a server size.

01 / AI & knowledge

Put your team's knowledge to work.

Open WebUI gives your team a shared AI chat interface. AnythingLLM lets you ask questions about your own documents. Flowise helps you build AI workflows and chatbots.

  • Team chat with user management
  • Use documents as a knowledge source
  • AI tools available as hosted Docker apps

Clarify model providers, data flows and any additional API or licence costs first. Hosting and the AI model are separate considerations.

Discuss AI for your team
02 / Automation & teamwork

Less repetitive work for your team.

Connect workflows with Activepieces, document procedures in BookStack or use Vaultwarden for password management. Choose the tool that fits the way your team works.

  • No-code automation with Activepieces
  • Company knowledge in your own wiki
  • Password management with Vaultwarden

We clarify the connections to other services, access permissions and support your project needs before you start.

03 / Protect your data

Backup storage or automatic system backups?

Cloud Backup is an external storage destination for your own backup tools. The separate data backup service backs up supported systems every night and provides access to earlier file versions in the portal.

  • Cloud Backup: SFTP/SSH for restic, Borg and other tools
  • Data backup service: download individual files
  • Earlier versions up to 30 days back, as described in the offer

These are two different services. We can help clarify which system needs protecting and which offering fits.

04 / Email archiving

Archive emails.
Keep your provider.

Keep business messages in a searchable MailStore archive. This also works with Microsoft 365 and mailboxes at other providers: you do not have to move your email hosting to baru.

  • Full-text search and export of archived emails
  • Legal hold and audit logs for traceability
  • Access through your browser, MailStore Client and Outlook Add-in

We agree on connectivity, access permissions and retention with you. Archiving and data backups serve different purposes.

What are you building?

Different projects need different setups. Choose your goal to explore a suitable starting point.

A possible starting point

More control for your application.

Want to install your own software, configure services or run a web app? A Cloud VPS gives you root access and a choice of Linux operating systems.

Good to know: With a self-managed VPS, you administer your own software. Contact us if you need support.

Put your application first.

Need a website or cloud storage without handling every system update yourself? Managed Apps combine your application with managed updates and backups.

Good to know: Available apps and included services are listed in the relevant product description.

A possible starting point

Give your backup its own home.

Want to keep backups outside your local system? Cloud Backup provides storage and standard access methods for your existing backup tools.

Good to know: Storage alone is not a complete backup strategy. Plan retention and recovery tests as well.

Switch hosting providers

A new provider.
A clear migration plan.

Thinking about moving your hosting? Start with what needs to move and who will manage it. That turns a price comparison into a decision that fits your project.

01 / INVENTORY

What needs to move?

List your applications, databases, domains and email accounts. Include data volumes, required software versions and any special interfaces. Do not include passwords in an initial enquiry.

02 / OPERATIONS

What will you manage yourself?

A VPS lets you administer your own software. Managed Apps suit supported applications with managed operations. Additional backup storage is not a substitute for server management.

03 / MIGRATION

Test before switching over.

Plan backups, functional tests and a migration window. Agree on any support needed and possible costs in advance. Cancel the previous hosting only after checking the new setup and your contract terms.

One more question?

You do not have to be a cloud expert to make an informed choice.

Ask our team
Who is baru cloud for?

Freelancers, businesses, developers and personal projects. The important question is whether the resources and services match your needs. Choose a VPS for your own applications or a Managed App for supported software.

What is the difference between a VPS and Managed Apps?

With a VPS, you manage your own software using root access. Managed Apps include OS and app updates, SSL and daily backups according to the product description. Choose the level of management that fits your project.

Where is my data hosted?

The cloud infrastructure runs in German data centres. For your specific application, also review the service description, privacy information and data processing agreement. The server location alone does not replace a privacy assessment.

Can I move from another provider?

Migration depends on your current application, data volume and required interfaces. Talk to us about your setup before switching so we can clarify the support needed. This does not imply a free or interruption-free migration.

How do I place an order?

Choose a product first. Its product page takes you to registration in the customer portal, followed by the order process. The prices, contract terms and services shown there apply.

What contract term applies?

Cloud VPS, Managed Apps and Cloud Backup product pages state monthly cancellation. The term and cancellation conditions of your selected plan during checkout are binding. Other products, such as domains, may differ.

How is email archiving different from a backup?

A backup helps you recover after data loss. An email archive keeps messages available for targeted searches and later access. MailStore provides full-text search and several ways to access the archive. Plan both for your business; an archive does not replace a complete backup strategy.

What do I need to use AI with my team?

Requirements depend on the tool and your chosen model provider. Before starting, clarify users, data sources, access permissions and any additional model or API costs. Hosting an AI tool does not automatically include all models or external services in the hosting price.
